Email marketing has a famously high ROI – although the precise percentage of return does vary depending on who you ask (anywhere from 150% to over 400%). That high ROI may be surprising if you’re someone who rarely responds to email marketing. Remember, email is considerably cheap which brings the ROI up considerably. Regardless of what the true ROI is – I’m confident it’s still quite high.
BUT overlooking some common best practices can be all too easy – even if email is old hat for many of us. I consider the following a fairly comprehensive checklist, which means – not every item needs to be checked for every email sent. However, it’s a good tool to keep handy to remind marketers of some of those items we tend to overlook when the deadline is approaching and the to-do list is growing.
